Like most UW students, Ryan Sterling signed up for Datamatch this past week in a last-ditch attempt to find love before graduation. After patiently waiting for days, Sterling checked his matches right as they were published on the 14th.
“I clicked the link in my email and my jaw dropped. My first match was my English lit TA, Sarah. And that shit was like a 99.9% soulmate match,” Sterling said. “I guess I’m not opposed to the idea, I’ve just never considered it as an option.”
Monday morning, Sterling had his discussion section led by Sarah. He expected her to bring it up right away, maybe DM him personally to ask him out. To his dismay, nothing happened.
“I thought for sure she’d brag about it to the class or hit me up in some way. At least call on me to answer a question, you know? But it seemed like she was just trying to avoid me,” Sterling said. “I even asked in the chat if everyone checked their Datamatch matches yet, and she just told me to stop distracting the class.”
Sterling sent a follow up email after class to which Sarah responded and told Sterling to consider switching discussion sections. When asked for a statement, Sarah declined to speak on the subject.
“Sarah if you’re reading this, please match with me. Think about the free Ian’s pizza,” Sterling said.
